We have decided to chose Lionsgate at the distribution company for our small production as it focuses mainly on films aimed for under 25 males and females but also more for teenagers and young adults rather than young children.
It has also distributed various horror films which is suitable as our chosen genre is horror. Some horror films they have distributed are:
- Warm Bodies
- You're Next
- Repentance
- The Quiet Ones
Warm Bodies is targeted towards the teenage audience as it is a rom-com genre with a slight zombie horror element which makes it suitable for the viewing of a young audience, mainly females.
You're Next is targeted towards teenagers both male and female as the protagonists of the story are a male and female couple. It is suitable for teenagers as it is not only a horror films but has aspects of comedy to make it less serious and more enjoyable to make it more light-hearted than the conventions of the horror genre.
Repentance is targeted towards older teenagers and young adults due to the serious events of people dying so is made for a more mature audience as it does not "sugar-coat" the tragic situations that occur in the story line.
The Quiet Ones is targeted towards young teenagers but also young adults. This i because the movie is only rated for ages 13 years and above so young teenagers are able to watch but is produced with the same producer of The Woman In Black and Let Me In, both targeted towards young adults. Therefore, the audience who has seen the two films mentioned before will want to see The Quiet Ones as it has the same producer.
Lionsgate's ethos is to entertain a wide range of audiences through different genre of film. This is shown clearly on the homepage of their website:
This is a banner at the top of the homepage advertising the release of The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 2 with links to the official website, trailer and ticket booking page. This follows Lionsgate's ethos as it appeals to teenagers and young adults mainly due to the success of the books and previous films. This is a banner at the top of the homepage displaying to users that Norm of the North is already in cinemas so they can visit the official website and watch the trailer, then decide to see it or not. This follows Lionsgate's ethos as it appeals to parents with young children as an idea as a day out for them to enjoy.

This is a section below the banner which gives the audience a glance at what new releases are coming soon got cinemas. This follows their ethos as Dirty Grandpa is aimed towards young adults both male and female due to the comedic aspects between Robert De Niro and Zac Efron.
Exposed is aimed towards adults both male and female as it is a psychological thriller so will be easier for them to follow the story and are more likely to enjoy it.
The Choice is targeted for female teenagers as it is a romantic story.
Misconduct is targeted for male adults due to the business and power of authority themes.
Gods of Egypt is aimed for mainly male children as it is an action-adventure/fantasy genre.
The Divergent Series: Allegiant is aimed for teenage and young adult females as it is based off of the successful book series telling the story of a powerful female protagonist and the target audience has probably read the books and seen the previous films
Now You See Me 2 is targeted towards young adults both male and female as it includes such stars as Morgan Freeman and Daniel Radcliffe both of whom young adults are aware of and would want to watch a film starring them.
